Our Service

Everyone’s recovery from an drugs and alcohol is different. Your recovery journey is based on the goals youwould like to achieve.

We’re here to help

We offer a range of evidence-based interventions both one-to-one and group sessions designed to support change as well as drop-in sessions to combat loneliness, increase confidence and build connections with others. 

To help you make the changes you want to make our free and confidential service provides: 

  • Support with any physical, emotional or mental health needs 
  • Needle Syringe Programme  
  • Recovery and detox programmes 
  • One-to-one and group therapy 
  • Social activities 
  • Education, training and employment opportunities 

Our needle exchange service provides you with clean injecting equipment, advice on preventing overdoses, naloxone and steroid equipment. This service is completely confidential and you don’t need to be ready to stop or reduce to use of this service. 

We are based between Units 4, 5, 6, 7, 18 and 19 of Cookson House. We also provide support from different community venues across South Tyneside, which helps us deliver our service into your local community. 

We have a well-developed group programme which is available to every person who uses our service, no matter the stage of their recovery. 

We can also support family members as part of the SMART Family & Friends program.

Get support

We offer an open access pathway – which means you can attend unit 19 Cookson House Monday to Friday, 10am-3pm and be assessed on the day.

Or you can call us to discuss your treatment needs or make an appointment. Our SPOC team will offer advice and guidance and support you through your treatment with us. You can also call us for a confidential chat if someone else needs support.
