‘In Our Hands’

Our new film highlighting the life-saving impact of naloxone through compelling, real-life inspired stories.

Produced with an experienced film crew and professional actors, the ‘In Our Hands’ uses powerful personal stories to raise awareness of naloxone.

Filmed in Lewisham, the production is based on the experiences of someone supported by Waythrough who now volunteers as a naloxone trainer after losing friends to overdose. The film follows her journey alongside a woman attending naloxone training for the first time. Later, she is later able to save her partner’s life thanks to the training she received.

‘In Our Hands’ also sets out to challenge the stigma around drug use and overdose by portraying relatable people in everyday situations. The film ends with a call to action from someone with extensive real-world experience of using naloxone, reinforcing the campaign’s message that greater awareness and access to kits will save lives.

What is naloxone?

Naloxone is a life-saving medication and Waythrough’s drug support services can provide take-home naloxone kits to anyone.

It temporarily reverses the life-threatening effects of an opioid overdose and provides vital time for emergency medical help to arrive. It is effective against heroin and other opioids, including methadone, morphine, fentanyl and nitazenes.

A member of one of our local teams will give you a kit, and show you how to use it to reverse opioid overdoses, giving vital time for medical help to arrive. The training can take as little as ten minutes.

You don’t need to be a doctor or paramedic to administer naloxone – anyone can do it.
