DVIP Family Courts Team
We deliver high quality, robust, expert witness reports with parents whose children are the subject of care proceedings, where there are concerns about domestic abuse.
We’re here to help
The Family Courts Team are a small team of expert assessors who offer domestic abuse assessments in cases where the children are the subject of child protection plans and the Public Law Outline (PLO).
We accept referrals across the UK and work largely remotely though in person assessments will be considered if required. All our experts meet Practice Direction 25B and have experience working in treatment settings with perpetrators and or survivors for a minimum of ten years. We have specialisms in so-called ‘honour’ based violence, parents with mental health challenges, drugs and alcohol, high-harm high risk perpetrators, survivors and perpetrators from minoritised backgrounds, and repeat removals of children.
Our assessments:
- Risk assessments of perpetrators
- Vulnerability assessments of survivors
- Joint risk and vulnerability assessments of perpetrators and survivors
- Final reports, following completion of treatment programmes
Who is this service for
- Parents whose children are the subject of care proceedings and there are concerns about domestic abuse.
- Please note, we accept referrals from local authorities and or solicitors acting on behalf of parents. We don’t accept private law referrals and or cases where there are ongoing criminal proceedings.
