  • Young people & family

Who we are

We are a division of Waythrough. For over 30 years, DVIP have been helping to make women and children safer. With services across London, we work to stop domestic violence and to reduce the harm it causes to women, children and families.

We are known as an authority in the UK in providing specialised domestic violence services. The Home Office has cited DVIP as a model of good practice, and the Office of the Mayor of London has recognised our contribution to women’s safety. We’re proud that our Violence Prevention Programme is one of the first in the UK to be fully accredited by Respect, the accreditation body for domestic violence perpetrator programmes in the UK

What we do

Bambu

Bambu is a service that aims to provide tailored, specialist support to meet the holistic needs of children and young people impacted by domestic abuse in the home, while working with a multi-agency approach. We work with YP 1 to 1 for up to 20 weeks through:

  • Resilience sessions: Covering Resilience Building Topics
  • Violence and abuse: Based off of the YUVA Programme (see below)
  • Children’s therapy: Creative Therapies

We accept referrals from people in the boroughs of Enfield, Haringey, Islington, Tower Hamlets, Croydon, Lambeth, Wandsworth, and Hammersmith and Fulham.

YUVA Southwark

We work with young people to identify and change their violent or abusive behaviours. The programme draws on a variety of approaches such as cognitive behaviour therapy, attachment theory and systemic practice.

We offer young people a 10-week programme of sessions to explore more effective ways of communicating distress that are safer and address any underlying beliefs and attitudes supporting their use of violence.

Parents are offered one-to-one sessions that focus on exploring their experiences and supporting them to take steps to make themselves and their family safer.

Who is this service for

  • (Bambu) Young people aged 11 to 18 (and up to 24 where there are additional needs) who have been experiencing domestic abuse in the home.
  • (YUVA) Young people living in Southwark aged 11 to 18 (and up to 25 where there are additional needs) who have used violence or abuse towards their parents or carers.
  • (YUVA) Parents/carers experiencing abuse from their child.

We accept referrals from professionals and organisations working with families, as well as self-referrals completed by parents or carers.

We need consent from both the parent and the young person if a referral is to be made on behalf of a family.
